"SHIFT"

I am so pleased to announce to you Art Expression's featured artist for November will be Suzanne Clements. Known as a figurative painter for the past ten years, Suzanne will unveil something entirely different! This latest exhibition, titled "SHIFT" will contailn only a handful of her latest paintings. Instead, her focus has moved to a new medium.

Last winter marked a change in Suzanne's creative process. After purchasing her first home and finally carving out a decent studio space (no longer confined to the tiny dining nook of her former apartment) she found that she was struggling to paint.

"Looking back at the work I completed in 2006 I knew I wnated to take an intirely new direction, but for the life of me couldn't decide which way to go." Suzanne created two completely different pieces, darker, more mysterious, and fo rthe first time, her portrait was obscured. "Iloved the new direction, they function as a perfect bookent to my painting. Even if it's just for now."

Suzanne has long used photograpphy as a part of her painting process, and for the first time she has begun experimenting with making is the focal point of her artwork. Much like her paintings, the photography whe creates still holds a sense of the surreal and inaginary. She captures her images by way fo an antique camera lending visual distortion and noise to her final compositions.

"SHIFT" will open on Friday, November 2, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. On exhibit will be her final never before seen paintings and collection fo new photography work. Join the artist for light refreshments and conversation.
