Florida art at it's finest!

Peter Balogh, an artist and former resident of Florida has released two new images available exclusively through Art Expressions! The viewer can't help but be taken back to a Florida that was once pristien and untouched by man. Blue water, abundant wildlife, tropical foliage......This truly is paradise! Immediatley you're drawn into the center of it all by a vintage map, illustrated by hand, that confirms you are no longer in the 21st century. However, just on the horizon, a sailing ship is making its way toward the shore! (Balogh was at one time a cartographer, specializing in restorating antique maps.)
Peter's work is now on dislay thru April, 2008, at The Shack Restaurant

Coming Soon

Take a sneak peek at Art Expression's art happenings coming

January, 2008: Brevard Art Educators Association Exhibit: Art Expressions will have on display and for sale original works by Brevard County art teachers.

February, 2008: Art Expressions welcomes San Antonio artist Mark Rue for his first Florida exhibit!

BEYOND THE FLESH

Art Expressions welcomes Codruta N. Tolan to their gallery as their featured artist for October. Born in Valcea, Romania and now a resident of Brevard County, Tolan's work will be on exhibit through October.
"It all started with a simple look through a painting studio, a glance around the room fascinated me: the skeleton, the model, an animal skull!....Despite the general idea that bones are connected with death, decay and usually something unpleasant, I personally discovered a particular beauty in their intricacy and organic aspect of the forms. In my works bones represent history--history of our existence and our creation as beings. Therefore, my works tend to venture into what is "beyond the flesh", beyond this visible world."

Tolan has studied with graphic artist Matei Serban and at the Luceafarul Art Academy in Bucharest. She is currently involved in pursuing an AA degree at BCC.

Please join us as we welcome Codruta Tolan in her first solo exhibit! An artist reception will be held Sunday, September 30th, from 1 to 4pm.

Jules has been creating web comics since 2003 and her current serial web comic, Marsh Rocket, has been running since 2006.

Terry Cronin, creator and publisher of Students of the Unusual, positively gushed enthusiasm, "It is a great honor indeed that our comic artists are being recognized for their incredible talents!"

Students of the Unusual began publication in 2004 and includes many stories involving the folklore and legends of Melbourne and the state of Florida. They have received excellent reviews and have had several recent honors being featured on the IFC channel and Taschen's Illustration Now. In 2006, they became the first comic book to ship with a DVD inside that included films based on their stories made by a number of talented independent filmmakers. In 2007, their cover art by Caleb Prochnow was a winner in CMYK magazine's Emerging Artists and Aspiring Creatives contest. Currently thay have been promoting an on-line song contest featuring fan-based songs that have been influenced by their comic stories.
